Just a passing comment ...

by a friend when she woke up late one morning and had to cut her dogs walks short. You see, she is a dog walker by day and a dog lover by night so she felt she was " the shoemaker". You know, the shoe maker who lets his own children run barefoot.

Sally on the beach
Sometimes I'm a shoemaker too. Busy checking on my foster charges, doing some behavioural modification with them, dispensing medication, grooming (and grooming) them. I worry our own gang gets neglected. That's why it's lovely to be on holidays. Everybody, every buddy, can get attention. We are so very fortunate to have an incredible pet sitter who can take the foster charges under her wing for a week. Their basics are taken care of but the forever dogs (and on this holiday rabbits) can move to a much more central role.

It's lovely.

All About Pets Show

Yup - it's coming up again - the All About Pets Show - if you live in the GTA you may want to schedule a little bit of time for the show on Easter Weekend. It's usually a  lot of fun .. and I say that with 17 years under my belt ..(though one year I worked from Hawaii on the beach pictured here!) I have organized the central adoption area for over 10 years and am thrilled that HUNDREDS of animals have found homes through the wonderful volunteers work. We've placed birds and small animals of all descriptions (hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, rats, turtles) dogs, cats,  and a pot bellied pig through contacts made at the show. We hear all kinds of great stories about how people got their animals and answer all sorts of questions about adoption (there is no stupid question - well there is no question so stupid that somebody hasn't asked it anyhow!).

We have also adopted lots of rabbits with the support of the fine folks at the OREO booth who love and nourish our rabbits while educating the public.
This year I'd be thrilled to find some sheep homes. I know we'll have rabbits, and dogs and cats and small animals of some sort looking for homes too!

Some fun ...  a parrot, a hedgehog and a baby rabbit hit a tv show - sounds like a joke but it was just loads of fun
All of the species interacted gently, with a great deal of curiousity. It was SO cute!

Sully has lived with us since 2003  - he gives noisy parrots a good name - he is such a sweet boy. It was fun having some time today to just hang out with him.
