Miss Julia Childs

Miss Julia Childs - aka Julia, Jujube, Jo-Jo and that d#$% cat deserves a post all her own. She has lived with us longer than any other animal here now - coming about 6 months before Brody arrived. She was pulled from a euthanasia list to be a companion to Kaylie cat. She had a chronic eye infection in a shelter setting - it cleared very quickly and has never returned.
She's 10.5 or so and a very sturdy small cat. She's black nearly wholly - with white toes and a small bib - as well as some white between her black legs. She's half Siamese at least - the pointy ears and kinked tail are tips but the TELL is her voice. Julia does NOTHING quietly!
She wakes up, we all know. She wants a spot on the couch - again - the neighbours know! She loves attention and adores dogs. She is not as tolerant of cats though.
She has a fabulous purr and is a dear soul - in fact she's named Julia due to the terrific pudding she could make if we could harness the power of her front paw treading when she's happy!

the holiday is done but summer continues ...

and a new cat - for now

Delilah has moved in. Poor Mum - 6 months with Delilah and her allergies just kept getting worse and worse so Delilah has come here, for now anyhow. We have heard of a new allergy treatment that involves using the hair from the specific cat you need to live with to create a shot - so we are planning to explore that.

Asia, Cotton and Duffy are all back in the city with Big T this week - much to my shock he asked if the kittens could keep him company. No problem!!

Delilah, Pretty Pretty (yes she needs a real name soon), Kala and Julia are quite content without the baby fosters in their faces .. though Julia has found a hiding spot here so good she scares me .. I don't know where she is most of the time!

where's my camera??

photo is of Cotton mauling Asia (though Asia is half Cotton's size in reality)

OK .
We headed east for 12 days and I didn't have time to find a pet sitter so EVERY body came with us (except the beta abandoned in the hospital - he, I have been assured, will be fine with a fish feeder thing)
Noah's ark had rabbits, parrots, more rabbits, dogs, cats, more rabbits and kittens.

Big T brought the 2 big dogs and all the stuff that 30 living beings require for a holiday (how glad am I that 2/3 are fosters? very very glad)

The cats we brought include Julia and Kala, of course. Then a very scared cat who was identified as a rag doll but looks very himi to me. (She still doesn't have a name- whoops). Cotton is with us. Asia is with us - the 4 month old blue eyed himi with wobbles who was taped in a box and left by a dumpster. Then we have Dr Au's miracle kitten known as Duffy. He is white - with one blue eye and one brown eye. He is quite deaf but that wasn't his overriding issue when he arrived. He could NOT use his front left leg at all - there was severe damage done to it and he couldn't bear weight on it at all. Crate rest and tlc worked their magic and now Duffy is giving Cotton a run for his money.

The cats and kittens are all enjoying having us around so much and enjoying the dogs. All but the scared girl actively like dogs. It's not unusual to see a dog cat sandwich curled up somewhere.

Looks like it might be a fine summer!

some sadness ...

dead like Smokey Shadow died yesterday -sometimes kittens do that but it doesn't make it much easier .. he faded away to nothing .. even that morning he jumped off a chair chased a ball and snuggled - but I have been worried about him off and on since the day I met him ... it seems unlikely it was contagious at this point but I cna't help but worry a little ...
Snowball continues to thrive - she's going back to her adoptive mom this weekend - perhaps to stay for good as two more cats have joined us now

a scared himi? ragdoll? is residing in my office crate .. she is terrified but totally precious - noise sensitive as an be but never nasty or mean - she is starting to like head scritches and comes out of her bo to visit with us now - we viral tested her so the minute I think she's not going to vanish she can come out

picked up a tiny little 12 week old kitten today - white with bicoloured eyes and a mangaled front paw - lets hope the damage can heal or we may have to look at amputation - we are calling him colombus for now

the little wobbler has been named Nina for now ... after Columbus's Nina ship - obviously the ship wasn't sure where she was going either ;)

just keeping track ....

the 2 white kittens are in seperate foster homes - always a good idea with quasi feral babies ...looks like one will stick and the other won't (through no fault of her own just the worng timing for the foster mom)
Jane's three foster kittens go to their new home tomorrow
Snowball and Shadow are spending the weekend with Snowball's forever mom (SB is HUGE; Shadow is still tiny but starting to grow - FINALLY)
Dogma - now known as Quinn - is doing very well in her home ... as is Peanut

Cotton has a new kitten friend - still unnamed - she is a wobbler, a honey, a charmer, a fuzzy siamese .. they don't come much cuter than her ... she was taped in a box and left by a garbage :(

We also have a nervous himi - she hides in a carrier in her crate but is easting and not at all mean so we'll give her time

the revolving door is still operational it seems ;)

seasonal juggling continues ...

Kala and Julia stay the same .. nice to have SOME stability

Cotton is still here - and I should just sign the paperwork and be done with him .. I have no interest in him going anywhere ...

Bobby went back home today - it was lovely - and I'm so glad I stuck to my guns and did the drop off myself ..

A cute little tabby with brown splotches went to C - the client at DVC who lost her cat a month ago

Dogma (the darling little tortishell who ACTUALLY outgrew a heart murmur) is moving in with Caitlin- yay Dr Au for making that possible

Snowball, the black orphan and her new little grey tabby buddy are eating and growing well - SB is just ridiculous the way she'll eat

New little foster moved in today - he's not quite right so we'll monitor him frequently and see what happens - we are calling him M. Lloyd for the moment - he reminds me quite a lot of coma kitten from a year ago ...

Shelly showed up with 2 white kittens at the clinic - they need some taming down but are BEAUTIFUL - so we left em at the clinic hoping that works out ok ..cross your fingers

and thus went the juggling of today .. phew ... good to be home ...

kittens, kiddens everywhere ...

We've done our share of kitten raising over the years
moms with litters, orphans from May - Oct without a break for many years

now I try hard to keep it to a couple of kittens (with or without moms) a year

we have done a fair few kittens this year already somehow ...

right now we have
Cotton - the three legged male who looks pretty likely to stay right here
Dogma - about three months old she had a heart murmur that has COMPLETELY cleared up - I have heard that can happen but never seen it before .. YAY for Dogma - she's very cute but deserves a home of her own
and 2 little orphans - Snowball is a pure black fuzz ball .. and Mr Beasley is a little wee tabby who hisses at the dogs still - quite hilarious .. Snowball thinks he's nuts - so so cute to watch them together :)

dear sweet Nando

has left us

he slipped away so quietly, so gently, so gracefully you just knew the time was right but still he leaves a very big hole. A great cat - full of love and life we lived with him 7 years - 7 golden years from 12 - 19 ... amazing

we were very fortunate to have known him

too cute ....

Sampson was pretty worried about cats when he first arrived
Cotton was VERY worried about dogs when he first arrived

Apparently they are over that ;)

changes a foot ...

a little catch up seems to be in order ...

Rumor lives with my dad

Delilah lives with my very allergic mum

we have Bobby who is supposed to be going home this month but after a year in foster care you'll forgive me for my doubts ...

we are living with 2 tripod kittens (Peanut and Cotton) just darling little souls who aren't at all limited by their handicaps

kala the toothless himi princess is still ruling the kitchen island - she won't eat wet food and she rarely eats kibble when there is an audience - it's hard to figure out how she is still with us

and of course Julia and Nando belong here :)

catching up ...

Little Delilah is in a home .. a great home .. with my mother - her recovery was amazing

She is a very puppy like cat takes things in her mouth and runs around the house ..
Poor Mum has terrible allergies she's fighting with every thing all of us can think of but she adores Delilah so is really trying to make it work

We've had cats come and go
darling Rumour moved in with my dad .. it's going very well .. Julia is keeping her company for the moment but will come home when we get a chance to connect

Big O went to a fabulous home .. he's now known as Jasper
Lilo moved in - a little Orphan Kitten Syndrome cat he had some aggression issues - I'm not sure he is adoptable in the classic sense but he sure is cute and sweet

Grace went to a great home (she's now known as Magnolia and doing SUPER too)
Chelsea came to us though she leaves this week .. for a trial home - cross your fingers it works as she deserves life as a princess :)

we currently have two darling little tripod kittens - black and white and cute as STINK .. they are hilarious and so charming too .. they need names .. I'm thinking about Hope and Vision after a work thing .. or Equity.. or Capacity ... something will gel soon I'm sure

Nando is aging before my eyes - losing weight but charming and darling as ever ..can't believe he's gone a full year with an embolism sitting in his heart - talk about a ticking time bomb

Bobby's mom says she might be able to take him back - great if it works but he's very happy where he is now
