I swore

I wasn't fostering kittens directly here this spring ...
managing foster homes and crisis management, over-nighting kittens on their way to foster homes-  that seemed to be plenty!

You tell me how me how I could say no to this face. I  was picking up another cat when this tiny mite arrived. I simply could not leave him.

 He's noisy,super friendly and very cute.

The kitten I went to meet (and ended up picking up) is probably about 10 weeks old. She's got an issue with her right front leg - it may need to be amputated.  Hoping very much a little TLC will change that grim prognosis.

Hard to imagine ...

we have no palliative fosters at the moment - but it's true.

Pi died today, peacefully and with dignity at home which was lovely but we are sad to see another gentleman go. Kidney failure at least doesn't seem to painful.

The oldest dog here is Brody at nearly 12. The oldest cat is Julia at 13.

I'm sure it won't last long but it seems strange.

Saying good bye

Kala - dear sweet Kala went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.

purring all the way but so frail and unsteady she was having trouble moving from warm spot to warm spot .. her skin was starting to break down and it really was time to let her go.

She was with us just over three years. She was not one minute of trouble. What a sweet, loving, adaptable girl.

Precious Princess. We will miss you.

Love it when I get to spend real time with former foster charges.

Wilkie is spending a couple of days with us while Mum travels.

One of the cutest things is watching her interact with Delilah.

Delilah lived with Mum and Wilkie for 6 months while Mum fought terrible allergies. I have never seen anybody as determined to live with a cat. Sadly it got to the point where Mum could no longer walk up and down stairs and Delilah now lives with us.

Wilkie as a JRT is pretty interested in the cats - and they aren't very trusting of her intentions! Delilah and she sit together and lick each other. Obviously Del knows Wilkie is a fraud!

So happy to have, over the last few years, divested myself from the political bs that surrounds animal welfare.
Now my attitude is pretty much if it doesn't directly help an animal somebody else can do it. Saves me a lot of inter agency grief. Still happy to talk to council, or whoever and be passionate about the things that really matter but not interested at all in the inter-agencies wars that rage over things that don't help animals!
